Mission The mission of the Taiwan Center is to enhance and sustain the well-being of the general public, including Taiwanese Americans and people from all ethnic and cultural backgrounds, by providing accessible cultural, educational, and human services. History The Taiwan Center is located in Flushing, Queens , New York at 137-44 Northern Blvd. , Flushing , NY 11354 . It was founded in 1986 and is a nonprofit organization with 501(c)(3) status. It is the first community center established by Taiwanese Americans in the U.S. through private donations. Originally, the Taiwan Center was intended to help Taiwanese American, and other latter-day immigrant groups, adapt to their new lives in the U.S. However, throughout the years the Taiwan Center has developed into a community center that offers diverse programs and services for the public-at-large. The Taiwan Center is a two-story building with a basement; total square footage is approximately eight thousand. Our facilities include a 280-seat auditorium with a Steinway & Sons concert piano, the Taiwan Center Student Club, a Conference Room, a Reading Room/Library, and a Computer Classroom. The stage and pinewood auditorium floor, as well as the elegant marble in the lobby were part of the recent 2002 renovation. Organization Structure
