Programs and Services

Major Programs of the Taiwan Center include the Senior Programs, Community and Education Programs, Arts and Cultural Programs.

Senior Programs:

The Taiwan Center’s Senior Programs are run by the Taiwanese American Senior Center, which has about 500 members. The Taiwanese American Senior Center unites four formerly separate Taiwanese American senior organizations in the New York area. The Center provides a lunch program, recreational activities, social services, and educational seminars.

 

 

Our Mission:

The mission of the Taiwan Center is to enhance and sustain the well-being of the general public, including Taiwan Americans and people from all ethnic and cultural backgrounds, by providing accessible cultural, education, and human service.

The Taiwan Center’s Conference Room, Reading Room, auditorium and the Steinway & Sons concert piano are available to the general public for special events. For further information, please contact us at (718) 445-7007.

Arts and Cultural Programs:

Taiwan Center’s Arts and Cultural Programs feature exciting fare such as cultural workshops, cultural exhibitions, and cultural events that promote Taiwanese and Taiwanese American cultures, as well as musical performances by outstanding musicians and musical groups

Community and Educational Programs

Community and Education Programs available at the Taiwan Center include adults’ continuing education, children’s program (rhythmic gymnastic and dance) and a collection of Taiwanese Literature. In 2006, the Taiwan Center published its first children’s book “ Rosie Visits Taiwan”.

Our Community and Education Programs also include civic services. For example, the Taiwan Center works with the Board of Election to provide poll-worker training and voter registration. The Taiwan Center also serves as a polling site during various election.

In addition, the Taiwan Center works with various nonprofit organizations to serve the community better, such as free Community Health Day events, co-sponsored by NATMA, the North America Taiwanese Medical Association and the Flushing Hospital Medical Center; the NYCWorks job training project, co-sponsored by KCS, the Korean Community Services of Metropolitan New York; and legal workshops for new immigrants, co-sponsored by the Garden of Hope.

The Taiwan Center also provides many community organization with a space

to host special events and annual gathering.
